RSS News Feed

Our RSS News Feed

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way for you to keep up with your favorite news and information.  An RSS feed contains headlines and links to full news stories and articles on a web site.  Our RSS feed provides news and information affecting our six communities.  Our RSS feed is free for you to use in news readers and Web logs (blogs).

How to View Our RSS News Feed

In order to view our RSS News Feed, you need to "subscribe" to it.  This does not mean paying a fee to receive it!  What it means is that you have to tell your RSS reader program that you would like to receive it.  How you do that depends on which RSS reader program you are using.

A) Internet Explorer, version 7

Internet Explorer, version 7 is the first Microsoft browser to allow the viewing of RSS feeds.  There are several ways to subscribe to our RSS feed in Internet Explorer.  This is the easiest: At the top of our page, you should see the RSS icon () all lit up on your browser.  Just click on it and you will see our RSS feed.  If you want to subscribe to it, click on the Add to Favorites icon () on the left side of your browser.  The feed will then automatically update at the interval you set (the default is one day).  Whenever you want to view the feed, just click on the Favorites icon () and choose Feeds.  If there has been an update, "Hausman United Communities" will appear in bold.

B) Netscape browser

Click on the Netscape RSS button () on the right of the URL/Location field at the top of the browser.  This will display our RSS feed in your browser.  Then click on the "Add Feed Bookmark" button at the top of the page.  This will add our RSS feed to your bookmarks.  If you click on the "Add Headlines" button, you can add a button for our RSS feed on one of your toolbars.

C) Other browsers and RSS readers

Click on the XML button below to subscribe to our RSS news feed.  RSS reader programs vary, so follow your program's direction for signing up (scroll down if you need an RSS reader).  If you already have a personalized MyYahoo! page, you can click on the button to the right to try adding our RSS feed through the Yahoo! RSS beta test.

Where to Get an RSS Reader

A wide range of RSS readers can be easily downloaded from the Web.  Some readers are Web-based while others require you to download a small software program onto your desktop.  Most are free to use.  (Several readers require Microsoft's .NET framework on your computer.  They may be slightly more complicated to install if you do not have .NET.)  Google and Yahoo! both offer comprehensive lists of RSS readers.  A few sample readers are also offered below for the purpose of evaluation:
